Please open System Preferences and Touch ID and remove any existing Registered fingerprints
Open Terminal (Found in Applications>Utilities)
Execute the following command
sudo bioutil -s -w -u 1
Enter your password when prompted (nothing will show up as you type)
Re-enroll your fingerprint in System Preferences and see if touch ID starts working
This can be done by locking your screen and then signing back in.
