Most of the faculty and staff of SVU has been given authorization to use the printers on campus. All of these printers can be accessed through the SVU_Employee secure network. Adding printers on Macbook or iMac.



  1. Click on the search icon at the top right side of your screen. This will bring up a search field in the center of your screen. 



  1. Search for Printers & Scanners. This is where you can find all of the tools you need to manage your printers.



  1. Select the plus button at the bottom of the left side of this window. If there is a Lock symbol next to the Plus and Minus buttons, you need to go through the “Make me an Admin” process and sign in with your Single Sign On account before you can add more printers. If you are not familiar with that process, please see the last section of this article. 



  1. The next window will show you a list of the printers on campus. These printers are named for where they are located. If you are working in the Academic Center we recommend that you use the “academiccentersmall” printer. If you are in Main Hall, please use the large printers in the hallway on your floor of the building unless you have a specific printer in your office or department. Select your printer from this list.


  1. Click “Add” and you will be able to print from your selected printer.

Printing a Word Document


  1. Open the document in Word.

  2. In the top right corner you will see the three dot menu icon. Select this menu. 



  1. Select the “Print” option from the list. 



  1. On the print preview page it will show you the option to select your printer. Press the arrow.



  1. Select “Air Print” This will bring up a list of printers on your current network. If you do not see the school printers, please be sure that you are logged into the SVU Employee wifi.



  1. After you select the appropriate printer and confirm the print, your file will be sent through airprint to that machine. 


  1. Sign in with your Single Sign ON credentials. (your school email and password)



Printing from Google Docs


  1. This process is very similar. Open the document in the Google Docs app.


  1. Open the three-dot menu. 



  1. Select “Share & export”



  1. Select “Print”



  1. Press “Select Printer” 



  1. Choose the appropriate printer from the list.



  1. Sign in with your Single Sign ON credentials. (your school email and password)


Adding Printers on a Windows Workstation


  1. At the bottom of your screen there is a taskbar. If you click on the windows icon it will give you the option to type in a “search bar”



  1. Type \\svu-pserv and select “Run command” from the search results



  1. A window will be opened containing the printers that are available on the network. Select the appropriate printer and the drivers of that printer will be installed. 


Make Me an Admin


  1. On iMac or MacBook, go to the search bar on your device. Type in “SVU app store”.


  1. In the window that opens you will see an application called “Make me an admin.” Clicking on this application will allow you to make changes to your computer with temporary administrator privileges. 


  1. Once this application is active you can return to the printer you were trying to install and unlock it with your single sign on credentials.
